10 key highlights from Siderise’s 2025 ESG Report
At Siderise, our mission is simple: to go beyond, contributing to safer buildings. Delivering trusted passive fire protection and insulation solutions is central to that goal, but so too is operating responsibly, using resources efficiently, supporting the resilience of the natural environment, and creating positive value for the communities around us.
In 2023, we launched a clear Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy built around four pillars: Planet, Product, People and Policy. These pillars continue to guide decision-making across the business, helping us balance commercial growth with environmental responsibility, product excellence and social impact.
Our latest Sustainability Report, covering the 2025 financial year, highlights significant progress across all areas of the business.
Here are ten of the achievements we are most proud of:
1. We significantly reduced greenhouse gas emissions
Reducing our carbon footprint remains a key priority. During 2025, we achieved a 26% reduction in Scope 1 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and a 14% reduction in market-based Scope 2 emissions compared with 2024. We also strengthened our decarbonisation strategy, establishing a clear roadmap to achieve net-zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2030, while continuing to develop our longer-term pathway towards net zero across all scopes by 2050.
2. We increased our use of renewable energy
Our efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce reliance on fossil fuels continued throughout the year. Both of our UK manufacturing facilities now operate using 100% renewable electricity, while energy intensity fell by 11% at Siderise Insulation’s Maesteg site and 20% at Siderise Special Product’s Hadleigh site. Meanwhile, 80% of our company car fleet is now fully electric, helping reduce emissions associated with business travel.
3. We cut water consumption almost in half
Water does not form part of our products, but it plays an important role in manufacturing activities such as cooling, cleaning and hygiene. In 2025, we achieved a remarkable 47% reduction in water consumption across the Group, driven largely by a 60% reduction at our Maesteg site. A major contributor was the closed-loop recirculation system installed at the Innovation Centre furnace, estimated to save approximately 825,000 litres of water annually, together with repairs to older defective pipework.
4. We expanded environmental transparency across our product range
Understanding the environmental impact of construction materials is becoming increasingly important for specifiers, contractors and building owners.
By the end of 2025, we had developed four Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) covering all core product ranges. These independently verified declarations provide transparent information about environmental performance across a product's lifecycle and support compliance with major sustainability assessment frameworks including BREEAM, LEED, WELL, DGNB and HQM.
5. We completed 120 fire tests to support safer buildings
As demand continues to grow for more complex testing that replicates real-world construction scenarios, our investment in testing capability is helping customers make informed specification decisions with confidence. Throughout the year, our UKAS-accredited Innovation Centre carried out 120 fire tests involving 244 test specimens, generating valuable evidence to support safer, project-specific fire protection solutions.
6. We continued to share technical expertise with the industry
In 2025, our technical teams issued 10,686 technical responses to customers and industry stakeholders while delivering training that resulted in 5,643 certificates being issued. This commitment to knowledge sharing and customer collaboration was further recognised when our project-specific solution for the G Gate Olympia development received the ASFP Passive Fire Protection Project Innovation of the Year 2025 Award.
7. We invested heavily in employee development
Creating a skilled, engaged workforce is essential to delivering value for customers and supporting long-term business success. During 2025, employees completed an average of 26 hours of training each, supported by an average investment of £844 per employee. New leadership and manufacturing development programmes were introduced, reflecting our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth. This investment is helping build technical expertise, leadership capability and a culture of lifelong learning throughout the organisation.
8. We strengthened support for employee wellbeing
We believe that creating a positive workplace starts with supporting the wellbeing of our people. In 2025, we trained 31 additional Mental Health First Aiders, bringing our global network to 46 individuals, representing more than one-fifth of the workforce.
This investment complements wider wellbeing initiatives and contributes to an inclusive environment where employees feel supported both professionally and personally.
9. We were recognised as a great place to work
For the third consecutive year, Siderise was named one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work, a recognition based on direct employee feedback. Survey results showed that 81% of employees felt their views were heard, while 82% felt they received sufficient information and training to perform their role effectively.
10. We continued to give back to communities
Beyond our own workplace, our people also continued making a difference in local communities. Employees participated in six volunteering initiatives across the UK and UAE, supporting biodiversity projects, coastal clean-ups and charitable organisations.
Examples include our Dubai colleagues joining a beach clean-up in Ras Al Khaimah, helping remove hundreds of kilograms of waste from the coastline. In Wales, employees volunteered with Special Families Maesteg to improve facilities for local families with additional needs.
What’s next?
The achievements highlighted in our 2025 Sustainability Report demonstrate the progress that can be made when sustainability is embedded across every aspect of a business. As we continue working towards our environmental targets, investing in our people, supporting customers and strengthening governance, our focus remains on creating long-term value for all stakeholders while staying true to our mission of contributing to safer buildings.
