What is Gateway 2?
Gateway 2 is a key approval stage under the UK Building Safety Act 2022 for higher-risk buildings. It takes place at the pre-construction stage and acts as a regulatory “hard stop”, meaning construction cannot begin until approval is granted by the Building Safety Regulator (BSR).
At Gateway 2, dutyholders must submit fully coordinated and detailed design information demonstrating compliance with Building Regulations, with a strong focus on fire and life safety.
