How does the new Siderise Inspection App support better building safety?
The construction industry is under increasing pressure to demonstrate installation quality, maintain accurate project records and provide clear evidence that systems have been installed to meet design intent and in line with manufacturer guidance. The new Siderise Inspection App has been developed to help project teams do exactly that, offering a faster, smarter way to capture, review and evidence Siderise fire and acoustic product installations.
We've received plenty of questions since announcing our brand-new App, so we've brought together the answers in one place.
What is the Siderise Inspection App and what does it do?
The Siderise Inspection App is a free to use digital tool backed by a powerful data management system that helps construction teams record, review and evidence the installation quality of Siderise cavity barriers, firestops and acoustic barriers.
Tailored to mirror how we would inspect in person, users can capture installation details, upload photographs and submit inspections directly from site using a smartphone or tablet.
The information is then compiled into structured reports that can be shared amongst project stakeholders and reviewed by Siderise technical specialists to confirm if our standards are met or flag if rework is required.
In essence, it helps embed accuracy, consistency, and confidence into building projects. ab intersection.
Why has Siderise developed a new version of its inspection app?
It has been 10 years since we introduced our very first App to the market. Along with subsequent iterations, it ran on older technology and whilst functional it was not optimised for a seamless user experience.
The other driver was the call for reform of the construction products regime in the UK to improve the traceability, transparency, and lifecycle management of construction products and to enable timely safety updates. Our new app will help us meet responsibilities proposed under the Construction Product Reforms to prove through digital records that our life safety critical products have been installed correctly - helping us fulfil our mission to contribute to safer buildings.
So, in line with our ‘Customer first’ value, we developed our new app following extensive customer research and feedback to better reflect how contractors and installers work on site. We involved heavy users of the old app in the initial scoping sessions to make sure customer experience expectations are met wherever they are in the world.
The result is a more intuitive, practical and accessible consumer grade tool to make inspections quicker, simpler and easier to manage in demanding construction environments.
What makes the Siderise Inspection App different?
While many inspection tools simply collect information that can be generic, the Siderise Inspection App Is designed bespoke for our product range, making it more detailed and specific. It combines digital evidence capture with human technical review and support. This means users benefit from both a practical site tool and access to our wider technical support wrapper.
Unlike many inspection tools that simply collect information, it integrates with wider project documentation and workflows to help reduce administrative burden associated with having to navigate multiple siloed systems.
It also connects directly with our internal CRM system allowing interactions with us to be automatically fed in. This allows inspection data, technical reviews and project support activities to be linked together, giving us a holistic view and helping us identify customer-specific trends, such as recurring installation issues. This allows us to not only provide more proactive support to installers, such as targeted training or additional site visits, but also offer construction managers greater visibility into installation quality across their teams and supply chain.
How does the Siderise Inspection App support quality assurance requirements?
The app is designed to capture the level of detail required to satisfy the quality assurance processes of Principal Contractors whether that’s directly through the installation contractors themselves or appointed Quality Assurance companies.
The app enables:
Project oversight to ensure design intent is being fulfilled.
Workmanship standards to be monitored continually.
Subcontractor quality to be managed more effectively.
Installer competency and skill to be demonstrated clearly.
Issues to be identified early before works are concealed.
Prevention of errors from being repeatedly built in.
The risk of costly rework and contractual disputes to be reduced.
A robust and secure digital audit trail to be built throughout the build process and maintained after handover.
How does Siderise Inspection App benefit the wider project team?
The App is not just for installers.
Reports can be shared with key stakeholders across the project team including those upstream, helping contractors, developers, site managers and quality teams access the information they need when they need it. Our Site Service Engineers also use it for their product installation training sessions and benchmark inspections linked to the project.
The ability to maintain centralised inspection records also promotes transparency, accountability and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
Is the Siderise Inspection App only relevant where codes and regulations require detailed records?
No.
While increasing regulatory scrutiny in some regions has highlighted the importance of installation records, the principles behind the Siderise Inspection App are universally applicable. Regardless of local legislation, building fire safety relies on every stakeholder taking ownership of their role within the construction process and being committed to delivering the highest possible standards.
In some jurisdictions, requirements for evidencing passive fire protection installations are well established. For example, in the UK, it is mandatory for high-risk buildings (HRBs) at Gateway 3 in accordance with the requirements of the Building Safety Act. In others, the level of oversight, inspection and documentation may be less developed. The Siderise Inspection App can help bridge this gap by providing a practical framework for capturing installation quality, creating traceable records and encouraging a culture of accountability throughout project delivery.
Instead of waiting for governing authorities to mandate change, project teams can take proactive steps to improve quality assurance and documentation today. By learning from best practice elsewhere and adopting processes that are proven to support better outcomes, contractors, installers and developers can help raise standards across the industry while improving protection for both people and property.
At its core, the App is about more than compliance. It is about providing the tools, knowledge and support needed to verify workmanship, evidence quality and promote a culture of continuous improvement—wherever in the world a project is located.
Is the Siderise Inspection App replacing in-person inspections?
No.
We recognise that remote inspection techniques have an important role to play in suitable, controlled circumstances. The App does not replace a targeted physical site-based inspection regime based on project risk, complexity and installation criticality.
Forming part of a broader quality assurance approach, it nurtures and streamlines a continuous inspection process. It gives project teams access to faster reviews and timely feedback as our Site services Engineers cannot be present for the full duration of the installation works, which can run for weeks or months, as a core function of their role is to train installers and oversee benchmark installations.

How does the Siderise Inspection App work?
The process is designed to be straightforward:
- Create an inspection within the App.
- Select the relevant Siderise product or application.
- Capture photographs of the installation.
- Complete guided inspection questions.
- Submit the inspection for review.
- Receive structured feedback and reporting.
The App guides users through each stage using intuitive prompts and data-entry fields, helping ensure inspections are completed consistently and accurately.

Does the Siderise Inspection App work offline?
Yes.
It works both online and offline, allowing users to continue recording inspections even when site connectivity is poor so there are no gaps in data capture. Once a connection becomes available, information can be synchronised and submitted.
This makes it useful for projects where signal strength may vary across different areas of the building.
