Siderise Achieves ISO 50001 Certification, Strengthening ESG Performance and Supporting GHG Reduction

At Siderise, sustainability is embedded into how we design, manufacture and operate as a business. As part of our ongoing commitment to responsible growth, energy efficiency and measurable environmental performance, we are proud to announce that we have achieved ISO 50001:2018 Energy Management System certification across our UK manufacturing operations.

This marks a key milestone in our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy and represents a significant step forward in our approach to managing energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting our customers’ sustainability ambitions across the built environment, industrial and transport sectors.

This achievement represents the first ISO certification jointly attained by both Siderise Insulation Limited (SIL) and Siderise Special Products Limited (SSPL), demonstrating our unified, Group-wide approach to energy management and environmental performance.

Certified by NQA, the ISO 50001 standard confirms that Siderise has implemented a robust and effective Energy Management System aligned with international best practice, ensuring that energy performance is systematically managed, measured, and continually improved across both manufacturing businesses.

Maesteg & Hadleigh

A Joint Achievement Across SSPL and SIL

Unlike previous certifications that applied to individual entities, ISO 50001 has been achieved as a single, integrated system covering both UK manufacturing sites. This reflects the strong collaboration between teams in Hadleigh and Maesteg and a shared commitment to improving energy performance across the Group.

The certification provides a consistent framework for:

  • Identifying and managing Significant Energy Users (SEUs)
  • Monitoring and analysing energy consumption trends
  • Embedding energy performance into operational and investment decisions

Auditor feedback highlighted the maturity of the system, strong leadership engagement, and a high level of energy awareness across our organisation.

Supporting Customers and Supply Chain Expectations

ISO 50001 strengthens our ability to support customers in meeting increasingly stringent sustainability and procurement requirements across the built environment, industrial, and transport sectors, including construction, HVAC, rail, and marine applications.

The certification applies to our own operations and allows us to improve the energy efficiency of manufacturing processes, which contributes to reducing the embodied carbon of products over time.

Through ISO 50001, we are better positioned to:

  • Provide credible, third-party verified evidence of energy performance
  • Strengthen alignment with contractor, developer, OEM, and infrastructure client ESG expectations
  • Enhance competitiveness in tenders, frameworks, and ESG-driven procurement processes across multiple sectors
  • Complement product-level certifications such as EPDs and BES 6001 within wider sustainability and compliance frameworks

In achieving ISO 50001, we are further demonstrating to customers, specifiers, OEMs, and partners that Siderise is committed to measurable, verifiable sustainability performance and continuous improvement.

A Core Pillar of Siderise’s ESG Strategy and GHG Reduction Efforts

ISO 50001 is a key enabler of our ESG strategy and achieving this certification was one of the targets in our Planet ESG pillar.

It also provides a structured framework to support reductions in Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by improving efficiency, eliminating waste, and optimising energy-intensive processes. In doing so, it helps strengthen governance, improve energy performance, and support a more resilient, data-driven approach to managing environmental impacts across the business.

Key initiatives supported by the Energy Management System include:

  • Enhanced monitoring of production equipment and utilities
  • Data-driven optimisation of Significant Energy Users (SEUs)
  • Energy-efficient maintenance and capital investment decisions
  • Workforce engagement and behavioural change programmes

The certification also supports compliance with schemes such as ESOS and SECR, reinforcing our responsible and proactive approach to environmental management.

Building on This Foundation: Forward Commitments

ISO 50001 provides a strong foundation for continued progress. Building on this achievement, we are committed to further strengthening our approach to energy and GHG management by:

  • Driving continuous reductions in energy intensity across our manufacturing sites
  • Supporting the delivery of our net-zero GHG emission targets
  • Expanding energy monitoring and data capabilities to enable deeper insights
  • Embedding energy performance into future design, procurement, and investment decisions

This structured approach ensures that energy management remains a central driver of both our sustainability performance and long-term business resilience.

Simon Mullett Energy Management Lead, Siderise Group says

“Achieving ISO 50001 certification is a significant step forward for Siderise and a milestone I am extremely proud of. This is the first time SSPL and SIL have achieved a certification jointly, demonstrating a truly integrated, Group-wide approach to energy management. ISO 50001 provides us with the structure, discipline and data we need to continually improve our energy performance, reduce our carbon footprint, and ensure that sustainability is embedded into the way we operate. It is a key enabler of our ESG strategy and supports the long-term resilience of our business.”

We are proud to continue this journey and embodying our values of ‘Integrity in all we do’ and ‘Strive for betterment’, as we work to make a positive impact across our business, society and the environment in which we operate.
