Purpose of this position
The Process Engineer at Siderise Insulation is a key leadership role that drives continuous improvement and operational excellence across manufacturing processes. This position builds on strong mechanical engineering foundations and empowers the individual to take ownership of process stability, reliability, and operator empowerment.
You will lead the administration and optimisation of the CMMS (Limble), ensuring a robust preventive maintenance (PM) program aligned with production needs. Your expertise in Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools (Yellow/Green Belt) will enable you to identify process bottlenecks, develop SOPs and Work Instructions via SCRIBE software, and implement autonomous maintenance strategies that reduce downtime and increase first-line fault diagnosis capability.
This role is not just about maintenance—it’s about creating sustainable systems, coaching production teams, and leading cultural change towards a proactive, lean, and quality-focused operation.
Key responsibilities
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodology to improve manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency.
- Manage and optimise the CMMS (Limble) including the creation, review, and scheduling of preventive maintenance tasks.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate clear Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) using SCRIBE software, ensuring accessibility and operator adherence.
- Lead and support Autonomous Maintenance programs by training operators to conduct first-line diagnostics, routine equipment checks, and basic maintenance tasks.
- Act as a technical coach and trainer for production staff on maintenance routines, housekeeping standards, and process controls.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to analyse root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure that all process documentation, maintenance records, and improvement logs are accurate and up-to-date.
- Support project teams during equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications with process impact analysis and operator training.
- Drive a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement across the shop floor in alignment with Siderise values.
- Facilitate communication between maintenance, engineering, and production to ensure seamless execution of PM and improvement activities.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment reliability, downtime, and quality, and report progress to management.
- Own and maintain ERP process engineering data, including routings, standard operation times, and production flows to ensure accurate planning, scheduling, and costing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, and IT) to develop and optimise routings that reflect actual process steps and timings, supporting accurate capacity planning and cost control.
- Analyse productivity and efficiency data derived from ERP outputs to identify performance gaps, recommend improvements, and implement solutions that enhance operational throughput and reduce waste.
- Ensure the integration of process changes into the ERP system in a timely and controlled manner, maintaining data integrity and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Essential: Mechanical Engineering background with hands-on manufacturing experience.
- Essential: Experience administering CMMS software, preferably Limble, with proven PM creation and upkeep.
- Desirable: Yellow or Green Belt certification in Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
- Desirable: Experience or willingness to use software tools such as SCRIBE for SOP and WI development.
- Desirable: Previous experience training or coaching production staff.
Job Function Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, preventive maintenance, and fault diagnosis in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with CMMS platforms and PM scheduling best practices.
- Solid experience or knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools.
- Ability to develop clear and effective SOPs and Work Instructions.
- Skilled in delivering training and fostering operator engagement with autonomous maintenance and quality routines.
- Competent in root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action implementation.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and technical software applications.
