Siderise AVC Acoustic Void Closures for Tops of Walls
A bespoke barrier designed to seal off voids at the top of wall junctions
Bespoke products designed to close small apertures and voids
AVC Acoustic Void Closures for Tops of Walls is a laminated composite intended to be compression fitted into an aperture to form an efficient acoustic seal. They are normally supplied cut to the final aperture shape, and are also available in strip form for linear gaps, or in sheet form for site cutting.
AVC Acoustic Void Closure can reduce room-to-room sound transmission, improving privacy and preventing disturbance from neighbouring rooms. Tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 10140-2:2021.
FLX Flexible Acoustic Barrier is suitable for use as an acoustic barrier in ceiling voids upto 1800mm.
Siderise AVC acoustic void closures for tops of walls are designed to effectively close small apertures and voids encountered in a wide range of building conditions. They are intended to be compression fitted into an aperture to form an acoustic seal.
Depending on the sound insulation performance required they may be employed singularly or in pairs (fitted either ‘back to back’ or commonly to each side of a central mineral fibre resilient infill).
Examples of use include; top of wall junctions, gaps around service ducts, perimeter heater cases, continuous lighting trays and air diffusers. Whilst often small in area they have the potential to reduce sound transmission.
Siderise AVC acoustic void closures for tops of walls are a laminated composite combining outer resilient foam layers with an inner flexible mass barrier membrane. For large deflections the closures can be securely retained top and bottom by metal angle sections. The closures can be supplied precut to the final aperture shape but are also available in strip form (for linear gaps) or in sheet form for site cutting.
In terms of 'Reaction to Fire', the products are classified to EN 13501-1. See Table 1.

Yes, we can supply the closure cut to the final aperture shape. Also available in strip form for linear gaps or in sheet form for site cutting.
Generally, sizes in the region of 50mm to 200mm wide are commonplace for linear applications. Infills to the underside of profiled decks are usually cut to fit the cross-section of the aperture.
No specialist equipment is required. AVCs are semi-flexible, allowing deformation for ease of installation; linear strips are usually compression fitted into place. The SSPL technical team can offer guidance on additional fixings to secure large deflections or voids.
Siderise AVCs do not have a tested fire resistance rating; they are supplied as an acoustic only void closure. Where an application has a fire stop requirement, AVCs can be fitted in pairs either side of the fire stop to greatly enhance the SRI. See Siderise TW range for when a fire resistance performance is also required.
