The BM/P10 Series Acoustic Barrier Mat combines high surface mass with ‘limp’ mechanical characteristics, making it ideal for improving the sound insulation value of existing panels of stiff materials such as metal, wood, plastic, GRP and more. The product is used in many varied applications and industries including construction, marine, automotive, and OEM. Some applications use the product as a component layer within a bespoke Siderise composite material. The barrier is then optionally combined with sound absorbents, spacing layers, facings and self-adhesive backings.

Tested acoustic performance

BM/P10 Acoustic Barrier Mat can improve sound insulation between spaces, improving privacy and preventing disturbance adjoining spaces. Tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 10140-2:2021.

Range of applications

BM/P10 Acoustic Barrier Mat is normally used as a treatment to stiff board materials to improve the sound insulation by adding mass and providing dampening. It can be supplied with a self adhesive backing to assist with installation.

Application

Siderise BM/P10 barrier mat is used in many varied applications and industries including construction, marine, automotive, and OEM.
Some applications use the product as a component layer within a bespoke Siderise composite material. The barrier is then optionally combined with sound absorbents, spacing layers, facings, and self-adhesive backings.
Common construction applications include high performance wall and partition constructions; external cladding to ducts / pipes, component in built up metal roof and cladding systems, overlays to timber intermediate floors.

Product Description

Combining a high surface mass with ‘limp’ mechanical characteristics, Siderise BM/P10 barrier mat is primarily designed to improve the sound insulation value of existing panels of metal, wood, plastic, GRP, etc. The barrier incorporates a laminated ‘anti-creep’ layer. This is designed to prevent possible long-term elongation of the product in its normal free hanging condition. It additionally provides reinforcement to through penetrations at fixing points. It is particularly effective in reducing the effect of coincidence dip resonance found in these stiff, lightweight materials.

Additionally, Siderise BM/P10 barrier mat may be used:

On its own as a flexible void closure material; in sandwich constructions between boards.
As an internal membrane in built up composites where final flexibility is required.
As an overlay treatment to materials or constructions with perforations or minor gaps resulting in potential sound leakage.

Installation

In general, through mechanical fixing is preferred. In vertical applications if the through fixing represents the sole means of permanent support for the material, they should be combined with load spreading washers or straps. The product can be cut to size with a sharp knife.

The product is optionally available with a self-adhesive backing layer. Please contact our Interiors technical team for advice on the use of adhesives.

Fire Performance

In terms of 'Reaction to Fire', the products are classified to EN 13501-1. See Table 1.

Acoustic Performance

The product’s acoustic performance is tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 10140-2:2021. Weighted sound reduction index (dB Rw) values for various grades of the product are given below in Table 2.
