Creek Gate, Dubai Creek Harbour

2020

The construction of two high-rise residential towers within an $18 billion world-class waterside development in Dubai required the highest standards of fire safety, and saw Siderise provide a proven range of fire-stopping insulation systems.

Located on the iconic new island district of Creek Harbour and designed by Norr Architects & Engineers for developer Emaar Properties and Dubai Holdings, the two residential towers – 45 and 70 storeys respectively – form part of the ambitious multi-use Dubai Creek Harbour Development, soon to be home to the world’s tallest tower. This project saw civils contractor Nurol LLC and façade contractor TGAC work with Siderise who provided the certified CW-FS Curtain Wall Fire Stop system, with the Siderise RH ‘Open State’ horizontal and RV vertical cavity barriers.

The façade design of the two towers combines both curtain walling and glass reinforced concrete (GRC) cladding. To seal the void between the floor slab and these external facades and provide vertical compartmentation at every floor level of the two high-rise towers, façade contractor TGAC installed the Siderise CW-FS 120 perimeter barrier and fire stop system. The product offers a unique combination of effective on-site performance and easy installation, supported by Siderise's extensive technical support.

The product has been designed to maintain fire resistance by sealing the void between the apartment floors, walls, and the external curtain wall both horizontally and vertically. It is a one-piece product with a pre-compressed non-combustible stone wool core. Furthermore, the system features integral aluminium foil facings to provide an overall Class A1 rating, as well as excellent resistance to smoke. It also offers tested fire rating options ranging from 30 minutes to five hours and will suit void widths up to 1,200mm.

The Siderise CW-FS system also functions as an effective acoustic barrier and plenum lining, minimising airborne noise transfer from floor to floor.

Involved in projects throughout the world and having manufactured acoustic and fire insulation products for more than 40 years, Siderise offers a large range of tried and tested product enhancements specifically developed for the façade industry.

With the successful completion of these two residential towers, Siderise has once again played its part in delivering proven solutions which meet the client’s passive fire protection requirements and ensure this development is fire safe.
