Purpose of this position
The Management Accountant will play a key role in the finance function, supporting the production of accurate and timely financial and management information. The role involves preparation of the Trail Balance on time and accurately providing excellent support to the Financial Control Manager.
Key responsibilities
- Produce the Trial Balance with analysis and commentary of movement.
- Assist with overhead variance analysis and storyboard work.
- Provide analysis and evidence to support Balance Sheet reconciliations, completing actions on time.
- Run the monthly stock report and post relating journals
- Prepare the VAT return ready for review.
- Prepare the prepayment and accrual schedules and post on approval.
- Monitor, track and test the stock of critical spares each month, ensuring the accounts are reflective of actual usage.
- Support the provision of year-end and audit information.
- Post intercompany balances and provide a monthly reconciliation. Ensure the correct documentation is uploaded to the finance system.
- Produce an audit ready asset register each month with assets posted in the correct entities or appropriately recharged via invoice where necessary.
- Manage the assets in construction and capitalisation thereof.
- Run the monthly stock report.
- Prepare the accruals and prepayments for soft and hard close. Explain year on year and month on month changes.
- Produce weekly and monthly bank reconciliations understanding key cash movements.
- Seek more efficient ways of working and propose ideas to the senior finance team.
- Post the salary journals to the finance system and produce analysis and reconcile payroll related codes in the Balance Sheet.
- Data analysis for ESG reporting.
- Support ad-hoc projects and other work as required.
- Supporting the annual budget and forecasting as required.
- Assist with compliance matters as they arise.
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting or AAT
- Part Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA
Job Function Technical Knowledge and Skills
- Advanced IT skills (particularly Excel)
- Familiarity with ERP systems (desirable)
- Ability to work at pace to deadlines, multi-task and prioritise
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing company of £50m+ turnover
