Purpose of this position
We are seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Project Development Manager to lead our early engagement project coordination team. You will manage a team of a Business Development Team Leader and 5 Project Coordinators to maximise project opportunities, keeping your finger on the pulse by ensuring our data is accurate, informative and guides our Commercial team to secure orders.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of a Business Development Team Leader and 5 Project Coordinators, driving a high-performance culture
- Facilitate incoming leads from Barbour ABI and NBS sources in line with our Commercial strategy to add to our pipeline
- Oversee the identification, tracking, and development of leads and active enquiries prior to quotation
- Ensure a proactive approach to Architects, Main Contractors, and Specifiers via all communication channels, creating trusted relationships by tactical questioning relating to each project opportunity, and maintain close engagement on a regular basis
- Capture all “Strategic Partnership Agreement” pipelines and ensure that all qualified opportunities are loaded into our CRM system at all stages of the project timeline
- Ensure Salesforce is fully and accurately populated with all relevant internal and external stakeholders, including accurate dates for each package.
- Set tasks for incoming leads with the appropriate internal stakeholders via commercial teams and manage progress via CRM reporting
- Support the external sales team by coordinating project updates, next actions, and commercial opportunities
- Drive commercial performance through strong leadership, process ownership, and effective communication
- Strive for betterment by highlighting efficient ways of working by proposing changes to systems and processes
- Manage CRM dashboards and reports to ensure data accuracy and to steer the commercial team based on trend analysis
- Capture and record all relevant market insights from you and your team to commercial intelligence to our Marketing department
- Record “Eyes and Ears” information from customers and industry news relating to competitor activity
- Analyse and report on “Won vs Lost” Opportunities, executing a deep dive into Lost reasons to our Commercial team
- Connect with Technical Services to ensure alignment of data and opportunities, focusing on the shift in ownership through the project journey
- Own and manage housekeeping activities to ensure Salesforce CRM system is clean, clear and always up to date
- Create and manage a forecasting tool to provide projected sales for forthcoming months providing an insight for Manufacturing and Operations teams.
- Collaborate with marketing team to support campaigns relating to NPS and events
- Gain a clear understanding of UK market conditions monitoring the shift in quantities of construction start dates and provide a monthly report to the commercial team
- Set monthly KPIs to monitor the success of your team and deliver a report to ensure these are on track to success

Qualifications
- Project management training or certification
- High level of education with strong literacy, numeracy, and communication skills
- Salesforce or CRM training/certification (desirable)
- Industry-relevant experience in construction
